PREEYA KALIDAS is an Actor, Singer, Songwriter who has worked across stage and screen.
On stage Preeya originated the lead role of Priya in AR Rahman’s musical Bombay Dreams produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Narrator in revival of Joseph and his amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The Adelphi Theatre, Patty di Marco in The Original London production of School of Rock, originated the role of Pinky in Bend it like Beckham the Musical of which she was nominated for a prestigious Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress in a musical, Miss Hedge in hit West End musical Everybody’s talking about Jamie, Margo in stage play The Good Life based on the iconic TV series, Aaisha in Chiaroscuro at Bush Theatre and played the lead in two plays Oxford Street and Khandan at London’s prestigious Royal Court Theatre. Most recently opposite Juliette Stevenson in Robert Icke’s The Doctor in London & New York.
Preeya has starred in award winning feature film Chris Morris’s Four Lions alongside Riz Ahmed, international hit film Bend it like Beckham, East is East, Bollywood Queen alongside James McAvoy, Milady in The Three Musketeers, short films C4 Jump Boy, Sari and Trainers and The Fiancée, One Punch directed by Emmy nominated director Huse Monfaradi and Paso Doble alongside Aiden Turner.
TV credits include the nations favourite continuing series, BBC’s Eastenders, Carmen in BAFTA nominated BBC Bollywood Carmen, Peter Kosminsky’s BAFTA award winning C4 Britz, series regular in BBC’s Mistresses, Jed Mercurio’s BBC Series – Bodies, BBC drama Banglatown Banquet alongside Shabana Azmi and England Expects with Steven Mackintosh, BBC Bedtime, Green Wing, BBC New Blood and BBC Hounslow Diaries, and most recently, Bergerac for Black Light Productions and Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey’s If/then at The Savoy Theatre.
Preeya collaborated and toured with Mercury Award winning Skepta performing hit record “Cross my Heart”.
As a songwriter she has worked with Maries de Vries (Massive Attack/Moulin Rouge Film/ Madonna, Grammy nominated producer ADP and Steel Banglez.
She co-wrote with producers NaughtyBoy(Beyonce/ Sam Smith) and Nitin Sawhney “Mahi Sona” song for feature film “What’s Love Got to do With It” Starring Lily James and Emma Thompson directed by Shekhar Kapoor.
Preeya has also hosted her own entertainment weekend radio show on BBC Asian Network and shows on BBC Radio 2.
